A person who I admire

This time I’m going to talk you about a man, a person who I consider was important in my field, a lot of people know this person and I have respect for him, because he gave his life doing what he likes: working with wild animals. The person I’m talking about is Stephen Robert Irwin, better known as Steve Irwin.

When I met him, it was for a television program called The Crocodile Hunter, a documental program of wilderness, where Steve was the brave hunter. Talking about his career, he was an Australian environmentalist and television personality, so a lot of people loved him for his work, I mean, not many people (including me) dare to do what he did in his ordinary life, and live for it: risk his life every day for have an educational and entertaining space on television, something that we can enjoy (more if we are vet students) and learn a lot. His work was based on face animal nature, and it was very dangerous (animals like stingrays, sharks, crocodiles), but he continued doing it at the end of his life.

One day, a September 4, 2006 at 11 o'clock in the morning while filming a documentary for his daughterBindy under the sea in Queensland (Australia) he was interacting with a stingray and something happened, and he had an accident with the animal. The stingray with his tail, make him a hole in his chest...and unfortunately he died before arriving the hospital. His producer John Staiton, said that Irwin "died doing what he loved", and that’s the reason I admire him and I think he was a very good and important contribution to the community.
